Chinese Military Incursions Near Taiwan Detected During KMT Peace Mission
Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense reported that six Chinese aircraft and eight warships operated around the island in the 24 hours preceding 6:00 AM on April 9, 2026. Five aircraft crossed the median line into Taiwan's northern and southwestern ADIZ. This military pressure coincided with Kuomintang (KMT) Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun's visit to Shanghai for a peace mission. Additionally, China's Dalian Maritime Affairs Bureau announced live-fire drills in the northern Yellow Sea scheduled for April 9.
