DRC-M23 Peace Talks Relocated to Switzerland Due to Middle East Conflict
The Congolese government and the AFC-M23 rebel group agreed on April 9 to move their peace negotiations from Doha, Qatar, to Switzerland. The relocation was necessitated by the ongoing US-Israel war against Iran, which has severely disrupted international flights to Qatar. The talks, facilitated by Switzerland and previously supported by Qatar, are scheduled to resume on April 11. Security concerns at the Al-Udeid air base also influenced the decision to shift the mediation venue.
