On April 6, 2026, the SAF successfully retook Al-Tukma from joint RSF and SPLM-N (al-Hilu) forces in South Kordofan. Wikipedia and local reports indicate that the intense ground battle to reopen the strategic road led to the displacement of 4,000 civilians who were trapped in the crossfire.
