Gang Expansion into Delmas 24 Port-au-Prince Neighborhood
On April 7, 2026, criminal gangs expanded their territorial control into the Delmas 24 district of Port-au-Prince. The UN spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, and IOM reported that this specific wave of violence displaced 13,000 people. Most of the displaced sought shelter with host families, while about 20% moved into 16 temporary displacement sites. The rapid seizure of this residential area was accompanied by widespread arson and looting.
