Somali Forces Liberate Mubarak and Daarusalaam, Displacing Civilians
On March 11, 2026, the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF) and AUSSOM troops successfully liberated the Al-Shabaab strongholds of Daarusalaam and Mubarak in Lower Shabelle. While the strategic victory dismantled militant courts and depots, the intensified 'Operation Rolling Thunder' caused approximately 2,300 civilians to flee toward the Dayniile District in Banadir. ReliefWeb reports that the newly displaced are facing extreme humanitarian needs as they integrate into existing IDP camps.
