North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised a ground test of a high-powered, solid-fuel missile engine on April 4, 2026. According to the KCNA, the engine utilizes advanced carbon-fiber composite materials and is intended for the Hwasong-20 intercontinental ballistic missile. Kim described the test as a very important step in putting the country's strategic military capabilities at the highest level.
