Massacre at Katha Monastery Displaces IDP Community
Myanmar military jet fighters bombed a monastery in Katha Township, Sagaing Region, on March 20, 2026, while it was sheltering internally displaced persons. The strike killed 50 civilians, including monks and children. In the aftermath, 3,200 people from Ward 3 and adjacent villages fled into the surrounding forests, fearing follow-up attacks.
