Gang Territory Expansion in Port-au-Prince Displaces 15,000
Between March 19 and March 21, 2026, the 'Viv Ansanm' gang coalition launched a coordinated attack on the Delmas 18 and 20 neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) tracked the displacement of approximately 15,000 residents who fled to spontaneous sites in the city center. The violence involved house burnings and systemic looting, rendering the neighborhoods uninhabitable. Families are currently seeking refuge in schools and public plazas. Source: Le Nouvelliste.
