Zelensky Proposes Easter Ceasefire and Energy Strike Moratorium
On March 30, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposed a mutual ceasefire with Russia for the upcoming Orthodox Easter holidays. Zelensky also called for a bilateral halt to strikes against energy infrastructure to alleviate pressure on global oil and gas markets, which have been volatile due to recent drone attacks on Russian refineries. The proposal comes as Ukrainian forces continue long-range strikes against Russian oil facilities in Leningrad, while Russian forces maintain heavy pressure in eastern Ukraine.
