Mass Displacement of 30,000 People to Nyatim Amid Famine
Medical humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reported on March 30, 2026, that 30,000 people have fled recent violence in Lankien and Pieri, seeking refuge in Nyatim, Jonglei State. Displaced families are currently sheltering under trees in swampy conditions with no access to food, clean water, or medicine as local authorities block humanitarian aid. MSF confirmed at least 58 deaths in the area over the last four weeks due to hunger and disease.
