Al-Shabaab Attack on Ceel Dheer Triggers Local Displacement
Al-Shabaab militants launched a pre-dawn assault on a Somali National Army (SNA) base in Ceel Dheer, Galmudug. The resulting ground battle in the town center forced 6,200 residents to evacuate to rural outskirts and nearby Dhusamareb. According to Radio Ergo, the fighting lasted for six hours before SNA reinforcements arrived. The displaced population reported the destruction of several market stalls and a primary school during the exchange of fire, leading to fears of continued insecurity in the district.
