India and Pakistan trade protests following naval collision
India and Pakistan summoned each other's top diplomats following a collision between a Pakistani naval patrol vessel and an Indian warship in the North Arabian Sea on September 15. India accused the Pakistani vessel of conducting "unprofessional and unsafe" maneuvers that violated a 1991 bilateral agreement. Both countries reported minor damage, and the incident marks a notable spike in direct military tension between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
