Taiwan Reports Massive Deployment of 100+ Chinese Vessels
Taiwan's National Security Council announced that more than 100 Chinese naval and coast guard vessels were monitored operating simultaneously around the island and across the Philippine Sea. Taipei characterized the deployment as an unprecedented show of force aimed at establishing a semi-permanent presence east of Taiwan. Officials warn that the maneuvers are likely testing the logistics for a future quarantine or maritime blockade of the self-governed territory.
