Ukrainian Defense Forces Neutralize Nearly 2,000 Russian Drones
In a massive defensive effort, Ukrainian forces reported the destruction or disabling of 1,920 Russian unmanned aerial vehicles within a 24-hour window ending August 16, 2026. Additionally, Ukrainian units destroyed one tank, seven armored vehicles, and 75 artillery systems. The high volume of drone interceptions underscores the central role of electronic warfare and short-range air defense in the current phase of the war, as both sides rely heavily on UAVs for reconnaissance and strikes.
