Assassination of Russian Military Officer in Sevastopol Bombing
High-ranking Russian military officer Robert Shageyev, a former Ukrainian naval commander who defected in 2014, was assassinated in a car bombing in Sevastopol. Russian security services arrested a woman suspected of carrying out the attack on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence. A secondary explosion occurred during the investigation, killing four Russian explosives experts and a security guard. While Ukrainian databases marked Shageyev as "liquidated," Kyiv has not officially confirmed its involvement in the high-profile strike.
