Fighting in West Darfur Displaces 18,000 Civilians

Renewed ground battles between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the Sirba locality of West Darfur have displaced approximately 18,000 people from over 20 villages. According to the UN migration agency (IOM) and OCHA reports from August 10, 2026, the majority of these newly displaced civilians have fled across the border into neighboring Chad to escape the escalating violence.
