Ukrainian Drone Strike Forces Shutdown of Saratov Oil Refinery
A Ukrainian drone attack on August 9, 2026, successfully targeted the Saratov oil refinery deep inside Russian territory, forcing a complete halt of its operations. This strike is part of Kyiv's ongoing 40-day campaign to degrade Russia's energy infrastructure and refining capacity. The facility is a key component of Russia's domestic fuel supply, and the shutdown highlights the increasing reach of Ukrainian long-range unmanned aerial vehicles into the Russian heartland.
