A United Nations investigation report released on August 12, 2026, revealed that Myanmar's military has significantly escalated aerial attacks against civilians. The junta is reportedly utilizing low-cost aircraft, including motorized paragliders and gyrocopters, to conduct strikes on anti-government groups and residential areas. Separately, the Arakan Army reported that at least 20 civilians have been killed in military strikes in Rakhine State during the first half of August.
