Malian Defence Minister Reported Killed in Coordinated Insurgent Attacks
Reports indicate that Malian Defence Minister General Sadio Camara was killed during a surge of coordinated attacks launched by the Al-Qaeda-affiliated JNIM and Tuareg separatists of the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA). The insurgents have increased pressure on the Malian armed forces and their Russian allies, overrunning military installations and imposing blockades on key transport routes. The African Union Peace and Security Council is scheduled to receive an urgent briefing on the deteriorating security situation across the Central Sahel.
