Haiti Gang Suppression Force Commences Operations in Port-au-Prince
The Gang Suppression Force (GSF), a UN-mandated international force led by Kenyan troops, officially accelerated its combat deployment in Port-au-Prince on August 3-4, 2026. Transitioned from the earlier Multinational Security Support mission, the GSF has begun active operations to reclaim territory from criminal gangs. This deployment aims to secure the capital for a realistic electoral calendar, as the UN Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) warns of persistent insecurity and acute humanitarian needs affecting millions.
