Coordinated Cyberattack Targets 30+ US Water Systems in Minnesota and Georgia
A coordinated cyberattack on August 4, 2026, targeted the operational technology of over 30 municipal water systems across Minnesota and parts of Georgia. The attackers exploited internet-exposed programmable logic controllers (PLCs), causing several pump stations to go offline and forcing utilities to switch to manual controls.
