Al-Shabaab Recaptures Strategic Town of Teedaan in Central Somalia
Al-Shabaab militants have seized the strategic town of Teedaan in Somalia's Hiran region following a coordinated assault that began with a vehicle-borne suicide bombing. The attack targeted a base manned by the Somali National Army and allied clan militias, forcing them to withdraw from the area. Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed 41 soldiers and captured multiple military vehicles. Teedaan is a critical defense point for the regional capital, Baladweyne, and its fall marks a significant setback for government forces.
