Ukraine Destroys Russian Naval Drone Maintenance Facility in Crimea
In a significant blow to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted an overnight strike on a storage and maintenance base for uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) near Chornomorske in western Crimea on August 1, 2026. The facility was used for the preparation and servicing of naval drones employed in combat operations. Additionally, the strike targeted a radio-electronic intelligence unit in Sevastopol, further degrading Russian situational awareness and naval strike capabilities in the Black Sea region.
