JNIM Insurgents Down Russian-Operated Mi-24 Helicopter in Central Mali

The Al-Qaeda-affiliated group JNIM successfully downed a Russian-manufactured Mi-24 helicopter in Kouakourou, central Mali, during an ambush on Malian and Africa Corps (formerly Wagner) forces. Reports indicate that several Malian soldiers were abandoned by retreating Russian contractors and subsequently executed by the insurgents. This incident marks a significant erosion of the junta's ability to project force in the region as JNIM demonstrates improved tactical coordination and use of anti-aircraft weaponry.
