Drone Attack Hits US-Owned Tanker in Egypt's Port of Damietta
A US-owned floating storage tanker in the Egyptian Mediterranean port of Damietta was struck by a drone on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, causing a significant fire that spread to a second vessel. British maritime security firm Ambrey reported the crew was safely evacuated, and Egyptian authorities brought the blaze under control. While no group has claimed responsibility, the strike is viewed as a dangerous expansion of the Iran-US war into the Mediterranean theater.
