Houthi Ballistic Missile Attack Forces Saudi Oil Tanker to Retreat in Red Sea
Yemen-based Houthi militants launched ballistic missiles at a Saudi-flagged oil tanker in the Red Sea on July 28, 2026. Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree stated the attack was a move to enforce their self-declared maritime blockade against Saudi ports in retaliation for regional escalation. The vessel was reportedly forced to turn back towards the Bab El Mandeb strait, raising concerns over the safety of vital maritime trade routes between Europe and Asia.
