American Pilot Shot Dead by West Papua Separatist Rebels
Nicholas Gosselin, an American missionary pilot, was shot dead by separatist rebels in Indonesia's Papua region. The West Papua National Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the assassination and the subsequent burning of his aircraft. The group accused civilian pilots of transporting supplies and personnel for the Indonesian military. In response, authorities have suspended all charter flights across West Papua, further isolating remote communities amidst the ongoing separatist conflict.
