Kenya Detains and Bars Taiwanese Marine Experts Under Suspected Chinese Pressure
Taiwanese marine experts were detained for over 24 hours and had their passports confiscated by Kenyan authorities, completely blocking them from attending the international "Our Ocean Conference" in Kenya. Taiwan's Ocean Affairs Council formally accused Kenya of bowing to Chinese diplomatic pressure to exclude the self-ruled island from the international forum.
