Taliban Forces Fire on Protesters in Herat
Protests erupted in the Afghan city of Herat in response to the Taliban's arrests of dozens of women over alleged noncompliance with strict Islamic dress codes. Taliban security forces used excessive violence to suppress the demonstration, shooting into the crowd, which resulted in the death of one child and multiple injuries.
