Deadly Tribal Clashes in South Darfur Kill Over 350

Intense fighting between the Salamat and Bani Halba tribes in the town of Kabum, South Darfur, resulted in at least 350 deaths and 220 injuries by June 4, 2026. Local authorities reported that nine villages were burned and hundreds of families were forced to flee. The conflict involved heavy weaponry and combatants linked to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), leading to accusations that the paramilitary leadership is fueling the militarization of local ethnic disputes.
