Iran State Media Leaks Draft US-Iran Peace Framework Details
Iran's state broadcaster IRIB published details on May 31, 2026, of a draft memorandum of understanding known as the 'Islamabad understanding' between Tehran and Washington. The framework reportedly covers maritime security arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz and the unfreezing of Iranian assets. Despite the leak, the agreement remains unfinalized as U.S. President Donald Trump has demanded more stringent controls on Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpile and its nuclear program before signing a final deal.
