US Forces Disable Gambia-Flagged Vessel M/V Lian Star in Gulf of Oman
On May 29, 2026, United States Central Command forces disabled the Gambia-flagged bulk carrier M/V Lian Star using a Hellfire missile in the Gulf of Oman. The vessel allegedly ignored more than twenty warnings while sailing toward an Iranian port in violation of the ongoing U.S. naval blockade. A U.S. aircraft targeted the ship's engine room after the crew failed to comply with redirection orders. The vessel remains adrift in international waters with no reported casualties.
