Major Anti-Government Protests Proceed in Tbilisi
As part of a long-running protest movement, vast crowds mobilized in Tbilisi on May 26 to demand the release of political prisoners, a return to Georgia's European alignment, and new elections. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze rejected releasing detained protesters unless they admitted guilt and demonstrated remorse.
