PLA Conducts Joint Combat Readiness Patrols Near Taiwan Strait
Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense detected 22 Chinese aircraft and naval vessels participating in joint air-sea maneuvers on May 25, 2026. At least 11 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait, entering the northern, central, and southwestern ADIZ. Taiwan's Premier Cho Jung-tai condemned the military activities as the primary source of regional instability. The drills coincide with the second anniversary of President William Lai taking office and involve surveillance by Kee Lung-class destroyers.
