Ali al-Zaidi Formally Assumes Office as Prime Minister of Iraq
In a formal handover ceremony in Baghdad, Ali al-Zaidi officially assumed the duties of Prime Minister of Iraq, succeeding Mohammed Shia al-Sudani. The Iraqi parliament had previously reposed confidence in al-Zaidi and 14 members of his cabinet on May 14. His administration takes power amid heightening regional tensions and a focus on maintaining Iraq's neutrality in the US-Iran conflict while addressing domestic economic stability and the threat of IS-K.
