High-Level RSF Commander Brigadier General Savannah Defects to Sudanese Army
Brigadier General Ali Rizqallah, a prominent field commander for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) known as 'Savannah,' arrived in Khartoum on May 16, 2026, after officially defected to the Sudanese Armed Forces. The defection follows reports of deep-seated divisions within the RSF leadership. Security analysts indicate that his departure may disrupt tribal alliances in Darfur and could prompt further defections among the paramilitary ranks as the military situation in the capital continues to deteriorate.
