CENTCOM Enforces Naval Blockade Against Iran During Operation Epic Fury
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on May 15, 2026, that 75 vessels have complied with orders to return to Iranian ports since the implementation of a U.S.-led naval blockade. Another four vessels were reportedly disabled during enforcement operations. Adm. Brad Cooper testified before the Senate, stating that the objectives of Operation Epic Fury—degrading Iran's ability to project power and reducing its conventional missile capacity by 90%—were largely achieved in under 40 days of sustained military operations.
