UN Peacekeepers Rescue and Relocate 191 Civilians in Ituri
On April 28, following an attack by the CRP armed group against the Congolese armed forces and local civilians in Djugu territory, UN peacekeepers rapidly deployed to secure the area. Working alongside local forces, the peacekeepers rescued 191 civilians—including 59 women and 126 children—and safely relocated them to a nearby site for displaced persons, according to a UN Secretary-General noon briefing.
