UAE Air Defenses Intercept Large-Scale Iranian Missile and Drone Barrage
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense reported the successful interception of 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones launched from Iran on May 5, 2026. This was the second consecutive day of aerial attacks targeting the Gulf nation. While most projectiles were neutralized over territorial waters, falling debris in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone caused a localized fire. Three individuals sustained moderate injuries during the engagement. The UAE has requested an emergency UN Security Council session.
