Israeli Navy Intercepts Global Sumud Flotilla in International Waters
Israeli naval forces intercepted the 'Global Sumud Flotilla' in international waters near the Greek island of Crete on April 29, 2026. The convoy, consisting of multiple vessels carrying humanitarian aid intended for Gaza, was surrounded by military boats that jammed communications and detained approximately 175 activists. Türkiye and Spain condemned the action as an illegal intervention and 'piracy,' calling for a unified international stance against the blockade enforcement as tensions in the Mediterranean rise.
