Pirates Hijack Cargo Ship Off the Coast of Somalia
Somalia's maritime authorities reported the hijacking of a commercial cargo ship by pirates off the coast of the central region on April 27. The vessel is reportedly being moved toward the Somali coastline. This incident marks a resurgence of piracy in the region, which has been exacerbated by the redeployment of international naval forces to counter Houthi threats in the Red Sea. Security forces are monitoring the vessel's location as it approaches known pirate hubs.
