Lebanon and Israel Hold Direct Peace Talks in Washington
Lebanon and Israel commenced a rare, second session of direct ambassador-level talks in Washington, D.C., mediated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The negotiations aim to extend the fragile 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which is nearing expiration, and discuss a permanent withdrawal of Israeli forces from the self-declared buffer zone in southern Lebanon.
