1.7 Million Maharashtra Government Employees Launch Indefinite Strike
Approximately 1.7 million state government, semi-government, teaching, and Class IV employees in Maharashtra initiated an indefinite strike. The workers are protesting the state administration's failure to implement a promised revised pension scheme and fulfill 17 major labor demands. The local government responded by invoking the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act and a strict 'No Work, No Pay' rule.
