SSPDF Airstrikes on Akobo Force Civilians into Ethiopia
On April 13, armed clashes erupted between the SSPDF and opposition forces in Akobo town, followed by SSPDF airstrikes targeting the nearby villages of Nukta and Gakdong. According to OCHA, the sudden escalation forced thousands of civilians who had recently returned to the area to flee once again, crossing the border to seek safety in Tiergol, Ethiopia. IDMC methodology estimates 5,000 displaced by this specific village bombardment.
