Between April 8 and 11, 2026, an intensified multi-column offensive by Myanmar junta forces involving heavy shelling and drone attacks forced approximately 7,000 civilians to flee 15 villages in Bago Region's Nattalin Township. According to Mizzima News, residents from villages including Kantharyar and Pemakhan have sought refuge in makeshift forest camps without access to clean water or food supplies as troops advance toward the Bago Yoma mountain range to target resistance forces.
